Does not seem worth the attempt to divide into different roots, as the whole considerable range of meanings appears in the forms of sphur.
Meaningssphar : Caus. sphārayati, PPP sphārita (q.v.) open widely, spread, expand, divulge, w. dhanus etc. bend the bow, shoot off.

sphur : sphuráti sphuráte v PPP sphurita jerk, dart, kick (trans. & intrans.); quiver, tremble, glitter, sparkle, start into view, appear, arise. apa snap away, withdraw quickly. ava & nis hurl away. pari quiver, throb; glitter, shine; rise, appear. pra kick or hurl away, shake, tremble, quiver etc. = prec. vi fly asunder; tremble, quiver = prec.
sphul : PPP sphulita sprung forth, appeared. |
