The word bhuṅkṣita R1. is perhaps an irregular formation from this root.
bhunákti bhuṅkté 2 v (bhuñjati, te), PPP bhukta (q.v.) enjoy (in older lang. w. I, later mostly w. A), esp. food (i.e. eat, feed on, ~ A), but also the earth, a country or town (i.e. rule), a woman (i.e. love carnally), etc; experience, endure, atone for (A) at the hands of (G); be of use to, serve (A). Caus. bhojayati (te) cause to enjoy or eat, feed (A of pers. & A or I of th.). Des bubhukṣate (ti) wish to eat, be hungry. bobhujīti 1 enjoy.
anu reap the fruit of (A), partake of, enjoy.
abhi be of service to (A).
upa enjoy (also carnally), eat, consume, use, possess, partake of, live on, reap the fruit of (A); be of use or service to (A).
pari eat before another or leave another without food (A); eat, devour, use, employ.
sam eat together, keep a common meal, enjoy (also carnally). Caus. cause to eat, feed with (I).
