The derivatives from the root-form śṛ are probably best referred to a separate root śṛ or śar, śal, meaning “cover” or the like.

adhi P spread over (A or L); put on (L, esp. on the fire agnau); lie or sit down upon (A). pratyadhi P place near (the fire). samadhi P (agnau) place over the fire.

apa Ā lean, rest.

abhi bring near; resort to (A).
