ā́ste 2 (āsti, āsati, āsate, āsyati, āsyate), v PPP āsitá (q.v.) & ā́sīna sit, seat one's self on (L); settle down, keep quiet, rest, lie, dwell, stay, remain; continue, keep on (w. nom of a PPP, Adj or subst., also Adv or ger.); belong to (G); be or turn to (D); also trans. keep, perform celebrate. Caus. āsayati cause to sit down.
adhi sit or lie down upon (A), inhabit enter, get into, undergo; preside, rule
anu sit near or round (A), sit down after another (A); worship, celebrate.
ud sit apart, be indifferent or passive.
upa be seated, esp. sit near or round (A); surround, invest; expect, wait for or on, honour, respect; partake of, enjoy, celebrate, perform, execute; get into, inhabit; undergo, take pains, endeavour to (PPP); keep on, continue (PPP or ger.). Caus. upāsayati cause to sit or to do homage.* paryupa sit upon or around, surround; revere, worship; partake of, enjoy. samupa be seated; perform, execute; celebrate, revere, wait upon, attend.
pari sit or assemble round (A), endeavour at (A); keep quiet, i.e. do nothing.
sam sit (together), assemble round (A), hold a meeting; abide, dwell in (L); take to, exercise (A); also = pratisam be a match for, withstand.
